Intouch Wraps February With Black History Month Happy Hour

Like many agencies, Intouch recognizes the importance of taking time out to celebrate together, whether via an informal team toast after a big project wraps up, or with the somewhat regular – and only slightly formal – happy hours we have during the non-summer months. For February, the Chicago office hosted a trivia event in honor of Black History Month.

“So much of Black History rings with themes of hope, perseverance and collective strength that are worth shedding a light on and appreciating as a way to foster bonding and bridging amongst our workforce,” says Antonio Rivera, Intouch’s associate director of diversity and inclusion.

Embracing “difference” has been a part of Intouch’s core values since day one. We truly believe our differences makes Intouch stronger, and our diversity and inclusion team helps ensure Intouch is a safe, inclusive place to work, where employees feel comfortable, empowered, and respected.

In addition to trivia and music, food and drinks from black-owned Chicago businesses were served: There was pie from Justice of the Pies, Jamaican eats from Mr. Brown’s Lounge, and wine from Love, Cork, Screw.

Nearly 100 Intouchers stopped in to play, eat, drink and – most cool of all — learn about innovations from black Americans and people from the African diaspora.

“When you read of the accomplishments despite the odds they faced – it is no wonder they are revered,” says Antonio.

On the whole, the happy hour was a great opportunity to come together, learn and enjoy each other’s company. Check out just a few of the photos from the event!
